How to claim a bonus point (보너스 점수 신청 방법)

* A "why" quetion would have high chance to get a bonus point in the class room or chat room.

1. 보너스 점수 안내

- 보너스 점수 1점은 0.5점이다.
- 한 수업당 최대 0.5점만 받을 수 있다. 다만, JC가 승인할 경우 여러 보너스 점수를 받을 수도 있으며, 최종 결정은 JC가 한다.
- 보너스 점수는 반드시 1주일 이내에 신청해야 하며, 그렇지 않으면 무효 처리된다.
- 이메일에는 보너스 점수 관련 요청만 포함하라. 다른 사항이 있을 경우 별도의 이메일을 보내라.
- 여러 번 신청하지 마라. 보너스 점수 신청 이메일은 일괄 처리되며, 2주 이내에 답장을 받을 것이다. 만약 2주 후에도 답장을 받지 못했다면 다시 이메일을 보내라.

Hi JC

I'm Kwangil, who is taking your SE class.

Date: Week01 Monday (March 1, 2023)

Context: In our class about concurrency and join() in Java, JC provided an example of how TAs mark the midterm exam paper first, and after they mark everyone they submit everything to you for final evaluation. This explained the concept of join(), where one thread (JC in this case) waits for other threads (the TAs) to finish their tasks.

My Question: Is this concept similar to how the Github platform works, using several branches with "main" or "master" being the main branch?

JC's Answer: Yes, the concept of join() is indeed very similar to the process of merging in Github. In a GitHub workflow, developers work concurrently on their tasks in separate branches. When they are done, they create a pull request to merge their changes into the "main" or "master" branch. This is similar to how JC waits for the TAs to finish grading before compiling the final scores.
